Sejal was left all alone to take care of her 5 year old son & 3 year old daughter when her husband, a driver by profession, died in a tragic accident. The village where she lived had several social restrictions on widows. Even her in-laws were not supportive. She decided to move back to her father’s place in Ahmedabad but his monthly income was only RS.10000 and barely enough to support her and her kids. She wanted to work, however lack of education post 8th standard and any vocational skills was a huge deterrent.
“One day a faculty from D.N. Polytechnic came for door-to-door advertisement in our society and from that I came to know about courses offered by DNP under CSR initiative are free. I visited the centre and took admission in 3 months course of Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) and now I am able to earn at least Rs.5000 per month after completing the course” says Sejal.
